The AT33Sa is the first MC Audio-Technica cartridge model to have a Shibata stylus. In addition to superior top-of-the-range performance as a stylus in contact with the line, the Shibata stylus produces strong and rich mid to low sounds. The Shibata stylus is mounted on a boron cantilever with a double damper to greatly improve sound quality.
Advanced conical boron cantilever and low weight
AT33Sa uses a conical boron cantilever. Tapering the cantilever and reviewing the number of spool spins reduces weight, giving the cartridge better high-end performance and wide-range reproduction.
Neodymium magnet with greatly improved magnetic energy and permendur yoke
The model uses a neodymium magnet with a maximum energy product BHmax of 50 [kJ / m3] and a permendur yoke with high saturation flow density and exceptional magnetic properties, which further improves the concentrated magnetic field of the coil gap.

The neodymium magnet provides maximum energy (BHmax of 50 [kJ / m3]), while the pure iron yoke offers excellent magnetic properties. Together, they also boast the concentrated magnetic field in the area of the coil gap.

Double moving coil with high separation and wide response
The basic structure is of the original MC type, with separate cylindrical coils on the left and right channels. Since the energy is generated independently in each of the left and right channels, this structure offers a truly superior separation. If the signal coming from the opposite channel comes out, this can cause intermodulation distortion and have a decisive impact on the audio quality and on how the stereo sound spreads. The structure of this product guarantees a clear and uniform sound. Furthermore, the two coils have an inverse V shape which reduces the actual moving mass seen from the tip of the stylus, limiting unnecessary coil movements and further eliminating distortion.
The VC mold limits unnecessary vibrations
The VC mold that fixes the coils is made of hard synthetic resin containing potassium titanate to make it highly resistant and rigid. This improvement results in a lighter product, which reduces unnecessary vibrations.
A robust body designed to be rigid
The housing of the product is made of precision cast aluminum alloy. The synthetic resin sandwich lasts in the upper and lower structure and suppresses parasitic resonance. This minimizes unnecessary noise while improving stiffness and the signal-to-ratio ratio.
